Wolverine 19.02.24
Sold
The Wolverine is a ‘single-cut’, single pickup guitar. The 42mm/1.65” thick body is fully chambered to reduce weight & enhance acoustic response, & features a sculpted neck joint & rear contour. The neck is constructed using a ‘butterfly’ cut with an ebony centre splice for optimum strength & stability. The scale length is 635mm/25” with a nut width of 42mm/1.65” & string spacing at the bridge of 54mm/2.13”.
The compact, straight-string-pull, low-angle headstock with volute is designed to minimise weight and maximise strength & balance at what is traditionally the most vulnerable part of an angled-headstock guitar. The ebony fingerboard has a true-conical section radius (not a simple compound) that keeps the strings consistently at the optimum height above the frets for the best possible action & string clearance. The frets themselves are medium-jumbo, ‘gold’, nickel-free C425 alloy – harder wearing than nickel-silver but not as unforgiving as stainless steel. The fret ends & fingerboard edges are rounded through multiple stages of smoothing & polished to give the ideal balance between ‘worn-in’ comfort & usable fret width.
The bridge, magnetic truss rod cover & top are all machined from solid brass in-house. The hardware is completed by modified Gotoh brass saddles, Hipshot ‘Griplok’ locking tuners, & Dunlop flush-mount strap locks, with an ultra-lightweight titanium double-action truss rod.
The Wolverine 19.02.24 is the original Wolverine designed and built for my daughter's eighth birthday. It features a vintage Schaller S6, single-coil pickup, neck & body of mahogany, ABM Germany brass roller nut, brass ferrules, leaf inlay side dots & a Switchcraft output socket.
